John Burns Neilson, beloved husband of the late Elsie Craig, dear father of Wilfred, Lorne, Alice (Mrs Wilmer Melanson) and Marion (Mrs Bert Timmins), dear brother of Mac, Toronto, and predeceased by Gordon, William and George. In his 77th year. Rested at the Kerry Funeral Home, 154 Elgin Street, Almonte where service was held on Friday, June 4th, at 2 p.m. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.

    Wilfred Ross Neilson
    Wilfred Ross Neilson, a life-long Almonte area resident, died suddenly Oct 2, 1995 at the Almonte General Hospital. He was 70. Mr Neilson was born April 8, 1925, the son of the late John Burns Neilson and his late wife Elsie Craig, both of Almonte. He received his education at S.S. # 11 Ramsay and Almonte high school after which he married Jean Struthers July 19, 1947 at Appleton United Church. Mr Neilson farmed for 21 years on the family farm on the 12th line of Ramsay and, after moving to Almonte, continue to work as a farm machinery mechanic until his retirement in 1989. He travelled extensively before his retirement, enjoyed spending time at the cottage, daily walks and playing shuffleboard. In addition to his wife Jean, Mr Neilson is survived by his brother Lorne (Edith) of Kingston, and sisters Alice (Wilmer) Melanson of Pakenham and Marion (Bert) Timmins of Almonte. The funeral took place at the Kerry Funeral Home Chapel in Almonte at 2 p.m. on Oct 5. Rev Colwell officiated. Interment at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rick Neilson, Barry Melanson, Harold McPhail, Tim Timmins, Darby Timmins (nephews) and Doug Fulton.

Jeanette (daughter of Robert Struthers and Eliza Melita Millar) was born in 1923 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 15 Mar 2014 in Almonte, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     Peacefully at the Grove Nursing Home, Arnprior on Friday, March 16, 2018.
    Alice M. Melanson (nee: Neilson) formerly of Pakenham, age 82 years.
    Dearly loved wife of the late Wilmer Melanson. Loved and respected mother of Linda Linklater (Duane) and Barry Melanson (Beth). Sister of Mrs. Marion Timmins (Bert). Predeceased by her brothers; Wilfred & Lorne. Also survived by 4 grandchildren: Stacey, Jamie, Mitch & Matt and 7 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the C. R. Gamble Funeral Home & Chapel Inc. 127 Church Street, Almonte, Ont. (613)256-3313 for visiting on Friday, March 23 from 7 to 9 pm. Thence to rest in St. Andrew's United Church, Pakenham from 10 AM Saturday, March 24 until Service at 11 AM. Spring interment with her husband in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte.

    Alice married Wilmer L. Melanson on 15 Mar 1952. Wilmer (son of Lawrence Alexander "Lorne" Melanson and Margaret Viola Whyte) was born in 1934; died on 27 Jan 2009 in Pakenham Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
