Vileta Cooper Williamson, age 70, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.
She was born January 17, 1939, in Morgan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Charlie V. and Beulah A. Hardin Cooper. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Treadway, from Fulton, Missouri in 2007, and a daughter, Uyvonna Cantrell, from Flatgap, Kentucky, in 2003.
Vileta is survived by her husband, Paul M. Williamson, whom she wed June 30, 1972; one daughter, Lorita Sublett and husband Michael of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, Gary L. Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Staffordsville, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Linda L. Althiser of Fulton, Missouri, and Nellie Whitt of West Liberty, Kentucky, and one brother, Charles Ray Cooper of Fulton, Missouri.
While residing in Fulton, Missouri, Vileta was floor supervisor in a shoe factory; supervisor of housekeeping at the Fulton State Hospital, and founded and served as manager of Sheltered Workshop, an organization that provided business opportunities for the disabled. She and Paul moved to Morehead in 1988 from Fulton. Vileta enjoyed flowers, gardening, and going to yard sales.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
